Your first appointment
You should allow at least an hour for your first appointment.
First, a full medical history will be taken, including as much information as possible on your condition. It would be very helpful if you could try to remember any significant injuries or illnesses you have had, and if you could also bring a note of any medication that you take. You will also need to answer a number of questions about your general health.
After this, with your permission, there will be a physical examination of the troublesome area and relevant orthopaedic and neurological tests will be used to help to establish what the problem is. To assess you properly, you may need to to undress to your underwear; a gown will be available to wear if you prefer.
Sometimes, further tests might be necessary and you will be referred as appropriate.
Once the examination has been completed, you will have your first treatment from Ann, using the light, swift McTimoney technique.
Most people will see an improvement in 3-6 treatments, although this varies with the condition and between individuals. As well as using McTimoney chiropractic adjustments to treat you, you may be given advice on how to help yourself and exercises to help your recovery.
